For the impatient.
The EasyMailings software is a filter--you feed it a text file, and it gives you a PDF file. You then print this PDF file onto label stock, eh voila!
Quick Start
Install Java 2 (or higher) from Sun Microsystems
Install EasyMailings
Export your mailing list to an ASCII text file. The text file should have the following columns (they can be in any order): first_name, last_name, name (instead of first_name and last_name) line2, line3, street, city, state, zip, plusfour, and delivery_point.
Set up the properties file for your mailing. This tells EasyMailings what file holds your address list, what order the columns are in, and how to generate the labels.
Run the batch file (ez.bat for Windows and ez for Linux) to create your labels.
Calibrate your printer. Basically, this means adjusting the margins in the properties file until the printout matches the label sheets you are using.
Print your labels.
Stick the labels on your mail pieces.
If necessary (for example, for non-automation compatible mail pieces), package mail pieces with rubber bands per the instructions printed on the label stock.
Put the mail pieces (or packages) into mail trays, again per instructions printed on label stock.
